Open Studio
The Awakenings Project Studio (in the Professional Building at 164 Division, Room 415, Elgin, Illinois) is open every Saturday and Tuesdays from 11 am to 2 pm, or by appointment. All artists are welcome to join us for art-making and fellowship in a “drop-in” gathering. Guests and observers are always welcome. Contact us by emailing this address

PAST EVENTS AND VENUES
2024 Events- June 6-July 31 (Glen Ellyn, IL) The Glen Ellyn, Illinois, public library (400 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL) displayed works from Awakenings Artists on their Gallery Wall and in display cases on the second floor. Great thanks to the JCS Fund of the DuPage Foundation for making this possible.

July 21 (Glen Ellyn IL) The Glen Ellyn Public Library hosted a “Meet the Artists” reception and open mic at the library at 400 Duane St., Glen Ellyn, IL. Participants got a chance to read a poem or sing a song and the public got to meet the incredible individuals who make up the Awakenings Project.
- April 11-May 30 (Elgin, IL) This was a coordinated effort between Elgin Community College and the Gail Borden Public Library, in Elgin, Illinois to bring awareness to mental health. The activities were at the impressive ECC campus (1700 Spartan Dr., Elgin, IL)and stunning library (270 N Grove Ave., Elgin, IL).

- Sept 15-17 (Riverwalk Fine Art Fair, Naperville, IL) We’ve been setting up a tent at this prestigious art fair for several years. This year we had to cope with a day and a half of rain!
- Oct 1-Nov 29 (St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Glen Ellyn, IL) Our second show there in five years. The church was most welcoming and displayed art in the nave of the church.
- Nov 17-Dec 29 (Wheaton Public Library, Wheaton, IL) Organized by artistic director Irene O’Neill, who coordinated the exhibit with WPL staff, the work of over 20 artists was hung on two walls in a cultural center on the main floor of the library.
- Mar 20 (Westmont, IL) The Gregg House Museum’s Annual Spring Palette Art Show
- May 2-13 (Ann Brierly Gallery at New Trier High School, Winnetka, Illinois) The show took place during May which is Mental Health Awareness Month. We were invited to return to the gallery after having had a successful exhibit there in 2007. We reconnected with Erika's Lighthouse – A Beacon of Hope for Adolescents.
